When you receive a bone graft, our periodontist may use bone regeneration proteins to enhance your healing following your procedure. This allows you to achieve better long-term results for your supporting bone and oral health. To schedule a consultation with Dr. Mark Mangelson and learn more about bone regeneration protein in Murray, Utah, please call Salt Lake Implants & Periodontics today at 801-266-3519.
After the bone grafting material is placed, our periodontist uses bone regeneration protein to help enhance the healing process. Proteins are often found during natural tooth development, and contribute to the process which allows periodontal attachments (gum attachments to the teeth) to occur. By adding these proteins into the area of the bone graft, we encourage the natural healing factors of your body to stimulate the regrowth of gum tissue, ligament and bone that have been lost due to periodontal disease or missing teeth. We also place a membrane between the tissues that heal more quickly, such as gums and ligaments, and the bone so that the bone can continue to regenerate without the faster healing tissues encroaching.
